Masters of the past and artists of the present use techniques to create images that please, relax and inspire us in a very personal and unique way. Sharing our souls and our minds through the arts and imagery is alive in many media. Steve Harlan has established his own style in a world moving quickly into the new millennium. Steve's limited edition Giclée prints are reproduced in association with Old Town Editions in Alexandria, Virginia.
Steve was born in Minnesota and his childhood memories are filled with thoughts of family, friends and the activities that kept the soul alive during the long winter months. His family relocated to Ft. Myers Florida when Steve was still in grade school. His love for the water began at this early age where he spent many days (literally) sailing into the sunset on his catamaran. Investigating the uniqueness of harbors and sunsets became a passion and his nautical focus grows deeper each day.
In the early 80's Steve and his wife relocated to Burbank, California where his love for the ocean continued. His style however started expanding and images of the southwest became a part of his portfolio. Abstract images also began developing as requests and interest from collectors in this new geographic location surfaced. His images were recognized by many and adorned the covers of magazines that ran the gamut from commercial, industrial, musical amphitheater promotions to trend setting publications like AV/Video. During those years, Steve was commissioned to produce custom images including nautical, southwest and abstract. He was recognized as a leader in digital imagery and continued to place Best of Show in major exhibits across Los Angeles.
In the late 80's, Steve relocated just outside Washington, DC, where he now produces images that brings the magic of the city into a unique focus. He currently resides in Prince Frederick, Maryland where outside his studio, the Chesapeake Bay offers a constant source of stimulation for future works.
